ARTWORKS  = MEDICINAL FABRIC SKINS COLLECTION. This series has developed within a collection of artworks from Olaniyi Studio that combines the symbolic textile traditions of the Yoruba and Cherokee, with inspiration from biology, phytology, and ritual practices of environmental consecration. Each fabric skin is a stretched architectural organism that functions as a component but when connected together forms a larger porous symbolic architectural system similar to a coral reef ecological system. The pattens and motifs that are knitted in the tensile are inspired by different cultural cosmologies, microscopic organisms, animals, and insect skins, some of these being endangered or extinct organisms. Through this, the skins can memorialise these species by symbolically extending their lives as an architectural presence or living artwork.
